Squarespace pricing changed twice in two years. In 2025 it replaced the old Personal, Business and Commerce plans with Basic, Core, Plus and Advanced, and in summer 2026 it raised the yearly price of the three most popular plans. Prices also differ noticeably by country, even when shown in dollars. This guide sets out the current US prices, the fees that sit on top of them, and which plan suits which kind of site.
Figures are Squarespace’s US list prices as reported in October 2026. Squarespace shows regional prices based on where you browse from, so readers outside the US will see different numbers. Check the price at checkout before you commit.

Paying yearly saves between $72 and $480 a year depending on the plan. There is no free plan, but every site can be built on a 14-day free trial without a card.
Squarespace also sells a Premium tier through its sales team for larger businesses, with no published price.

What Each Squarespace Plan Includes
Basic: $19 A Month Billed Yearly
Basic replaced the old Personal plan. It covers a portfolio, blog or service site with a custom domain, Squarespace’s templates and editor, basic analytics and the ability to sell. Two limits matter. Basic allows two contributors, and it adds a 2% transaction fee to every online store sale on top of card processing, plus 7% on digital content and memberships. It also does not support custom code, and it has no automated sales tax calculation.
Basic is the right plan for a site that rarely or never takes money. As soon as you sell regularly, the fees make it the most expensive plan to sell on.
Core: $29 A Month Billed Yearly
Core is the plan most small businesses should start on. It removes the 2% store fee, allows unlimited contributors, adds custom CSS and JavaScript, advanced analytics, and commerce features such as automatic discounts, carrier-calculated shipping and Google Shopping. The digital content fee drops to 5%.
Plus: $49 A Month Billed Yearly
Plus sits between Core and Advanced. It lowers the US card rate to 2.7% plus 30 cents and cuts the digital content and memberships fee to 1%, with more video storage than Core. It suits businesses selling services, courses or memberships at moderate volume.
Advanced: $99 A Month Billed Yearly
Advanced is built for higher-volume stores and digital sellers. It carries the lowest published card rate at 2.5% plus 30 cents, no fee on digital content or memberships, unlimited video storage, and the ability to connect your own carrier accounts for shipping.
The Fees On Top Of The Plan
For anyone selling, fees matter more than the subscription. Squarespace Payments charges US businesses 2.9% plus 30 cents per standard card transaction on Basic and Core, 2.7% plus 30 cents on Plus and 2.5% plus 30 cents on Advanced. Premium cards such as American Express and corporate cards cost 3.2% plus 30 cents on every plan. International cards add 1.5%, and currency conversion adds 1%.
On Basic, Squarespace adds its own 2% commerce fee to every online store sale. Digital content and memberships carry a separate fee of 7% on Basic, 5% on Core, 1% on Plus and nothing on Advanced.
Automated sales tax calculation is not available on Basic. On higher plans it is charged as a small percentage of each taxed order, capped per order.
Which Plan Is Cheapest For Your Sales Level?
The table below uses US yearly prices and standard domestic cards, with a $50 average order value, for physical products.
| Monthly store sales | Basic | Core | Plus | Advanced |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| $500 (10 orders) | $19 + $27.50 = $46.50 | $29 + $17.50 = $46.50 | $49 + $16.50 = $65.50 | $99 + $15.50 = $114.50 |
| $5,000 (100 orders) | $19 + $275 = $294 | $29 + $175 = $204 | $49 + $165 = $214 | $99 + $155 = $254 |
| $25,000 (500 orders) | $19 + $1,375 = $1,394 | $29 + $875 = $904 | $49 + $825 = $874 | $99 + $775 = $874 |
| $50,000 (1,000 orders) | $19 + $2,750 = $2,769 | $29 + $1,750 = $1,779 | $49 + $1,650 = $1,699 | $99 + $1,550 = $1,649 |

The pattern is clear. Basic is only competitive below about $500 a month in sales, because its 2% fee overtakes the $10 saving almost immediately. Core is the cheapest plan from there to roughly $10,000 a month. Plus overtakes Core at about $10,000 a month, and Advanced matches Plus at around $25,000 and pulls ahead above that. For digital products and memberships the gaps are far larger, because the 7% and 5% fees on Basic and Core dwarf the subscription.
Is Squarespace Expensive?
For a brochure or portfolio site, Squarespace is mid-priced: Basic at $19 a month billed yearly is a little more than Wix’s cheapest plan and includes hosting, SSL, templates and a domain for the first year. For a store, it is competitive at the Core level and transparent: every fee is published in advance. It becomes expensive when businesses stay on Basic while selling, or pay monthly for years when yearly billing would save roughly a quarter of the cost.
How Squarespace Pricing Compares
Wix’s plans run from $17 to $159 a month billed yearly, but its cheapest plan cannot take payments; our Wix vs Squarespace comparison goes through the differences in detail. Shopify starts at $29 a month billed yearly and is built around inventory and multichannel selling rather than content; see Squarespace vs Shopify and our Shopify pricing guide.

Conclusion
Squarespace pricing starts at $19 a month billed yearly in the US, but the right plan depends on what you sell rather than how big your site is. Stay on Basic only if you rarely take money. Move to Core as soon as you sell regularly, and look at Plus or Advanced once sales pass about $10,000 a month or if most of your revenue comes from courses, memberships or digital products. Pay yearly, and check the regional price at checkout before you commit.
